What is an AVIF file?
A modern image format built on the AV1 video codec — 30–50% smaller than JPEG at equal quality. Websites love it; many apps still can't open it. Hence this converter.
Why can't I open AVIF files?
Older versions of Windows Photos, macOS Preview and most editors lack AVIF decoders. Browsers have had them for years — which is exactly what this tool uses.
Are my images uploaded?

What quality should I pick?
90% for “visually identical” (default) · 80% for web weight · 95–100% for print. The live preview shows the real output at each setting, with its exact size.
What happens to transparency?
JPEG has no alpha channel, so transparent areas get filled — white by default, any color you like. Choose PNG output to keep transparency.
Can I convert to PNG instead?
